Sharp has just announced an entire range of new hardware for the small office and
home office which they hope will be a step on the ladder to establishing them as
providers of a seamless environment for integration of all business activities - independent of operating system. We spent a day at Sharp's London offices looking at what is on offer, and bring you an exclusive preview this month both in the pages of the magazine and on the SuperCD.

There are four new product lines in all. At the top end of a new range of notebooks is the PC 9820T, based on an Intel 233MHz Pentium processor with MMX. It's modular design copes with two of the following modules at once: a 20x CD ROM, floppy disk, power pack and spare battery selection, showing considerable versatility as well as packing a punch. Two of the other models in the line, the PC-M100 and the PC M-200 sport Sharp's new super bright XGA TFT screen technology, which they claim to be between 40% and 100% brighter than existing displays.

The three other products in the range present Sharp's take on what are relatively
new form factors for the mobile computer user. The HC 4500 is a colour CE 2 handheld, similar to the Mobilon (which will not be available in the UK). It can be used with an optional PCMCIA based digital camera capable of taking photos on the move. We review Sharp's mono CE handheld, the HC 4100, in the magazine this month in the Mobile World section.
The SE-300 might look like an old fashioned policeman's notebook at first, but it is in fact a palm-sized organiser set to rival the new Palm PCs and the more established PalmPilot. It offers a range of personal information organisation functions in an ultra-slimline case. Perhaps the greatest innovation, though, is the MC-G1. This is a personal mobile communicator that unites mobile phone, e-mail, fax and PIM capabilities in a single unit.
In the magazine we have exclusive hands on previews of the SE-300 and MC-G1. Meanwhile here on the SuperCD you have the chance to hear what the product controllers at Sharp have to say about these two units and the colour CE handheld, the HC 4500, while the specially shot video footage gives you the first chance to see each model in action. Watch James Johnston show you the new Colour CE handheld and its revolutionary digital camera, hear Sami Istephan talk you through the MC-G1 mobile phone with PIM, and see Mark Klein demonstrate the stylish and practical palmheld organiser the SE-300.
